Welcome Sebastian

He's finally here! Or, I guess he's here already, since he was 3 weeks early. I went to the hospital on Saturday, September 5th with high blood pressure, and they put me on hospital bed rest on lots of medication. On Tuesday, (which was my birthday...strange that 31 years ago I was at that same hospital!!) we thought I was going to be induced. My health was going downhill with the blood pressure. After an amniocentesis to check the maturity of his lungs, it was determined his lungs were immature, and he needed to stay in. The next day I was given steroids to help his lungs develop. The next morning, I woke up having a contraction at 4:30 or so. I got up to go to the bathroom, and my water broke! It was a shock. He was supposed to wait until at least Saturday! So I called Wes, he came back to the hospital, and we welcomed Sebastian Eric Baxter at 2:53pm on Thursday, September 10th. He was 6 lbs 5 ozs, and 19 inches long. It was a pretty easy labor. It seemed to go pretty fast. He came out screaming, which was a relief. He checked out great, and they let him stay in my room for a while. He did go to the NICU for a couple of hours because he was having trouble keeping up his body temp. But he was back overnight. They sent us home on Saturday. Then the Jaundice started. He was on lights at home for two days, but his levels got really high (25) so we had to go to the hospital for 3 days. He got down to 13, so they sent us home. But he rebounded to 16 so they put him back on lights at home. He got down to 10.9, but now has gone up a little again, so he gets tested today. His poor little feet have so many poke scars! I think it's harder on mom than him! He's eating well, and we're all tired, but we're hanging in there. He's really sweet and pretty laid back. Wes is great with him, and if Sebastian is upset, when he hears Wes's voice, he calms down right away. It's pretty cute seeing dad and baby hanging out! Here's some pictures from the hospital.
